Senior Civil Project Engineer Soil Mechanics

What will you do?

At Tata Steel in IJmuiden you will be the expert in soil mechanics, foundation engineering and quay wall design. Examples of projects in which your expertise will shine are related to the quay walls at Tata Steel’s own harbor, as well as challenges involving the foundation design of our new green steel assets, alongside other civil engineering challenges connected to our Heracles and Roadmap+ programs. 
 
As a project engineer at Tata Steel in IJmuiden you will work independently within multidisciplinary technical projects, managing the technical aspects, budget, and timelines within your area of expertise throughout both the preparation and execution phases.

By applying your knowledge and insight, you will provide expert advice across a variety of projects. You will contribute to technical innovations and improvements in civil engineering installations, analyzing solutions and driving changes that enhance reliability and efficiency. 
  
As a project engineer at Tata Steel..

• You will manage your own portfolio. You will be coordinating contractors during execution, including overseeing acceptance and aftercare. 
• You are always in control. Since you’ll be assessing technical designs and calculations made by external parties. 
• Providing technical input is necessary. The input is needed for the preparation of project and investment proposals for the production plant.
• Development is key. Within your expertise the development and documentation of requirements is up to you.

You are someone who likes to take initiative. You know how to take feedback in a positive way, but also how to express it. With that given and received feedback, you build support for your ideas. Moreover, you like to work in a team. Additionally, you have:

• A bachelor's level degree in civil engineering or a related field.  
• Broad knowledge of civil engineering, particularly in foundation techniques and soil mechanics.  
• Experience with the design of quay walls. 
• Structural knowledge to assess designs and calculations.

• A salary between € 4229,83 and € 8204,50 gross per month based on your education and experience, and a profit share in case of good company results.   Various allowances and expense reimbursements, such as holiday pay (8%) and end-of-year bonus (2%).

• Benefit from collective agreements we have with Zilveren Kruis Achmea.  
• Good balance between work and private life with at least 37 days off (26 vacation days and 11.5 ADV days).

The Projects & Technical Consultancy (PTC) department is the internal project and engineering office of Tata Steel in IJmuiden. We provide services for the realization and continuous improvement of the production installations at Tata Steel IJmuiden.  

PTC is organized into various groups, each specializing in a particular area of knowledge. All our projects are multidisciplinary, meaning you will work closely with all disciplines and collaborate with different plants. While we may not always agree on the best path forward, we always find common ground because achieving the best outcome for Tata Steel is our top priority. The loyalty to Tata Steel and the IJmuiden site is what truly sets us apart.
